Summer has come to the Valley. The heat and humidity that everyone has been waiting for has finally arrived. Now that it’s here we’ll soon be complaining and wishing for cooler weather. I’m so thankful that God made the seasons. Not only for the variety, but it gives us four different reasons to complain every year. We certainly do love to complain!

With the cost of gasoline skyrocketing we complain. Maybe we should thank God we have a car to drive. We complain because fuel oil is expensive. Maybe we should praise God we have a home to heat. We complain food prices are going up but what if there was no food to buy? What if the grocery stores were bare, the fruits and vegetables gone; no fish, meat or poultry to be found?

Would we fall on our knees before God and weep for our sins? Would we beg for forgiveness? Would we remember His church and decide to show up on a Sunday morning? Or would we shake our fists at the heavens and curse God? Would we think of God at all or wonder if He exists? What would we do if the economy collapsed, the stock market wiped out all our assets and the banks became insolvent in a matter of hours? What would happen if everything we had worked for all our lives was gone and we were left with the clothes on our backs and little else? Would we find that God and family is really all that matters or would we just complain?

These are frightening days but the Lord told us in His Word they would come. We can’t do anything about them but we can get ready for Jesus. He’s coming, too. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved!! This is no time to complain! This is a time to repent and be saved! This is a time to rejoice and look up! This is a time to praise the God of creation! Won’t you praise Him with us this Sunday?
